San Jose del Cabo Surfing - Early morning ride.
Surfing is very popular in the local waters.

Horseback riding on the beach, fun & relaxing.

Activities are abundant in San Jose del Cabo and are varied enough to keep almost any visitor occupied for a good part of their vacation, if they so choose.  This area of Baja is famous for it's incredibility productive Sportfishing, world class golf courses, whale watching, scuba diving, snorkeling and surfing.  The new marina, Puerto Los Cabos, has made Sportfishing a lot easier for San Jose del Cabo visitors.  They also have a special area of the marina set aside for dolphin shows and dolphin encounters with some very friendly dolphins.  Dolphins will always be a favorite for the kids and the adults in your party will probably enjoy it just as much.  Surfing is enjoyed all over Los Cabos, there are good waves on both the Pacific side and on the Sea of Cortez.  Whale watching along the coast can be incredible from December through April, and is one of the most popular local activities during the season and is finally available in the new marina from Dolphin Discovery. Fishermen come from all over the world to fish the waters off Los Cabos on both the Pacific Side and the legendary waters of the Sea of Cortez.  Ask anyone who knows, even a little bit, about fishing where the world's most productive waters are and the answer should always be Los Cabos.  This area became famous for the quality of the local fishing and, surprisingly, because of the almost unvarying catch and release policy of the local charter operators, it has managed to remain the most productive fishing destination in the world.  Catch and release allows your trophy fish to live for someone else to enjoy, maybe even a son or daughter, on a future fishing trip.  Think about it - demand the release of all billfish.

Land based activities include nature walks, horseback riding, hiking to a local waterfall, bungee jumping, mountain biking, zip lines and canopy tours.  Off road enthusiasts will be happy to know they can get just as dirty as they like in the deserts, mountains and valleys around San Jose del Cabo.  ATV tours, Rhino tours, Hummer tours and Mercedes Benz Unimog tours that even include a bit of tequila tasting.  Also offered are Jeep tours to the East Cape and Cabo Pulmo or Todos Santos.  Wide Open Baja offer tours in real Baja 1000 race cars that last from a few hours for local tours, to a few days for a full Baja tour.  You can even ride a camel on the beach at a local ranch, and then get a tasty sample of some local ranch cuisine.

City tours include cultural tours of La Paz or Todos Santos as well as Cabo San Lucas and local San Jose del Cabo city tours.  The Art Walk (Thursday evenings, November to June), can be done on your own or as part of an organized tour.  This is a must do activity that is very easy and is also free, if you go on your own, without a guide.  The art district comes alive with activity as the galleries and local shop keepers do a great job of opening their arms to welcome vacationers and locals, alike.

Golf in Los Cabos  has become one of the largest major tourist draws, for good reason.  Los Cabos can now boast of having a dozen golf courses.  Most of these courses have ocean views and are of "world class" caliber.  The Punta Sur course in San Jose del Cabo is a simple, but changeling nine hole course.  Golfers of all skill levels can enjoy a round or two during their vacation.  Golf vacations are often combined with sport fishing adventures that offer a diversity not found in many areas of the world.  The golf courses of Los Cabos have been designed and built by the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones II,  Tom Weiskopf and Greg Norman.  Los Cabos is one of the only places in the world where you can you catch (Please Release!) a Marlin in the morning, play eighteen holes, while enjoying a Cuban cigar and still get back in time to enjoy a leisurely cocktail hour with your wife or girlfriend?

Rest assured that the entire Los Cabos area including the beaches, deserts, mountains waterfalls, and hot springs will provide enough variety to ensure that your vacation will not be boring and may be one of the most memorable that you will ever experience.

Some water based activities are not yet available in San Jose del Cabo, although they should be soon. We are listing activities on this page that may be based out of the Cabo San Lucas marina.  A day trip to Cabo is on the list of things to do for many San Jose del Cabo visitors so you can plan to enjoy some activities as a part of you visit to Cabo San Lucas.
